Sagittarius desires freedom to expand one’s philosophy & truth through the embodied exploration of higher education, philosophy, & long-distance travel.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, which has been in its favorite sign of Cancer (aka its “exaltation”) since June 9, 2025 & will end its sojourn here next month on June 30th. Here, its promises of growth are supported with the heart & an underlying sense of emotional reliability.
(From my personal experience, I can say that pursuing my beliefs & truths have been significantly easier when I feel understood rather than having to explain myself. For example, receiving authentic understanding from others feels more like a blessing than other forms of support, such as financial aid from institutions I’ve had to “prove my worth” to.)
As Jupiter moves towards Leo, it will be forming a stronger square with Chiron who is at the anaretic degree of Aries, increasing the volume of the call coming from inside the house to listen to our instincts & take ownership for our inner fire. By doing so, we reclaim our autonomy & confidence in ourselves, lighting up the way for others to do the same. Saturn in Aries, through its trine to the Sagittarius Moon & sextile to the Gemini Sun, is contributing ease in taking responsible action on an individual level towards collective goals.
Uranus, who is present in this lunation, also desires collective liberation through being radically true to oneself. Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius, the sign that Pluto is currently retrograding through for the next ~18 years.
Specifically, Pluto is currently Rx in Aquarius at 5° & making a supportive aspect to the luminaries at 9° Gemini/Sagittarius, Uranus at 2° Gemini, & Neptune at 4° Aries, making this altogether a more collective action focused lunation. It’s giving discussion & discourse over what freedom of speech can do for us today, & once we know, what are we willing to do about it? There is power in the mind, especially a hive mind.
This lunation is also squaring the lunar nodes that are currently along the Pisces/Virgo axis of service, so we’re caught in a challenge between repeating familiar karmic lessons or breaking through to the unfamiliar future.
Part of Sagittarian energy is knowing that more knowledge = more power. As someone with a 9th house Virgo Sun & Mercury, I feel that knowing just enough about something to be dangerous is a risk to all (including my own ego), which is why I think this lunation squaring the nodes along the Pisces/Virgo axis encourages us to stay humble & true to the plot.
With the North Node specifically being in the other Jupiter-ruled sign of Pisces, the cosmos are activating the “spiritual warrior” within & blessing us with courage towards compassionate collective liberation through our relationship with individual truth & each other.
This is especially important as Chiron makes its way towards Taurus where wounds around resources, worth, & our environmental reality will be triggered starting ~ June 19th. Mars, planet of challenge, action, & passion, is currently at 9° Taurus making an exact quincunx/inconjunction with the Sagittarius Moon. Quincunxes & inconjunctions occur between signs that don’t initially seem to share any commonalities with each other, so finding the link is where the magic occurs. What I’ve noticed about both Taurus & Sagittarius is that they both desire the exploration of experiences & senses, so this aspect asks:
Are we optimistic enough to journey towards our hope of a better world when we’re presented with the uncomfortable reality of financial & material instability?
In the midst of this fast-moving & loud energy, are we willing to slow down & take consistent actions that will ground in the just future & systems we’re all hopeful for & talking about?

Taurus is ruled by the lunar benefic, Venus, who is moving away from its exact square off with Saturn (which occurred on Thursday) & is approaching the ruler of this lunation, Jupiter. The exact meetup of these two benefic planets is happening next month on June 9th at 25°46’ of Cancer, which is something we’ll all be looking forward to.

What is a Blue Moon?
To start, the Moon will likely not appear blue in color. So where does this phrase come from?
According to the farmersalmanac.com, “the term is…sometimes attributed to William Shakespeare, who wrote between 1585 and 1613 and used similar language to describe impossibilities…one linguistic theory connects ‘Blue Moon’ to the Old English word belewe, meaning ‘to betray.’ Under this interpretation, the extra full Moon ‘betrayed’ the normal expectation of…the usual one per month or one per season. The term is also used colloquially to describe anything rare — as in ‘once in a blue moon.’”
Britannica adds that “a blue moon occurs once every 33 months or full moons, 41 times per century, or about seven times every 19 years. An even rarer event is when two blue moons happen in the same calendar year, which happens about four times per century.”
For reference, the previous monthly Blue Moons occurred on August 30/31, 2023 (supermoon), October 31, 2020. The last time two blue moons happened in the same calendar year was in 2018 (January 31, 2018 & March 31, 2018), with the January 31st Blue Moon also being a supermoon & Leo Total Lunar Eclipse!
This will repeat in 2037 on the same dates (January 31, 2037 & March 31, 2037) with similar degree points, but this time BOTH will be Supermoons & the former will be a Total Lunar Eclipse once again!
This Blue Moon occurring at 9°55’ Sagittarius is the extra full moon this month (our most common definition), effectively bookending May with the Scorpio Full Moon at 11°20’ that started it. You can read about the feel of the Scorpio Full Moon in my previous blog post.
The next monthly* Blue Moon will be occurring on December 31, 2028, coinciding with a Total Lunar Eclipse at 10°35’ Cancer.
*Side note: Due to timezone differences, a Blue Moon can happen in some areas but not others; a Blue Moon from a more than once-a-month sense occurring at the final hours of the final day of a month in the Western Hemisphere will be a Full Moon occurring on the first day of the next month in the Eastern Hemisphere (e.g., Total Lunar Eclipse mentioned above will be occurring on January 1, 2029 at 1:51am in Tokyo).

Author’s Note:
I could not have aligned my life better with the timing of the May new & full moons.
With MC & IC being along the Scorpio & Taurus axis, I spent the first half of this month purging my mother’s home that had been lived in by 7 different family members over the past two decades.
For the Taurus New Moon in which I set intentions for abundance & security, I had 4 gigs lined up - the first being a garage sale, the next being a virtual lunar workshop, & the final two being live readings at in-person events.
I started Gemini season by flying to Seattle, WA for the first time to attend the annual Northwest Astrological Conference (NORWAC) in which I received a Diversity Scholarship for. (That extremely social, intellectual, & synchronistic experience will get its own blog post in the near future.)
Once NORWAC ended, the challenging cosmic squares coincided with my 6-day scenic cross-country drive with a friend back home through many storms (thanks, Jupiter, god of Thunder)! Our final overnight stop was in my undergraduate home, & we got back yesterday, hours before the Sagittarius Full Moon.
And now, here I am publishing this blog (Sagittarius is also associated with mentoring, teaching, & publishing). HA! Please forgive me if this blog seems all over the place (but to be fair, that is also on brand with the Gemini-Sagittarius energetic axis)!
